Meet Our Team: Steve Paganuzzi

A resident of Dutchess County for over 25 years, Steve was both enchanted and alarmed by the abandoned Hoyt House as he hiked the magnificent trails of Mills Norrie State Park.  He jumped at the opportunity to join the CVPA Board in the effort to save The Point, including the historic house,  outbuildings, dramatic Hudson vistas and architectural legacy.

As an attorney, Steve is focused on helping individuals, families, small businesses and non-profits with their legal needs, be it estate planning, wills, trusts, real estate, matrimonial matters, business agreements, etc.  But Steve is also a dedicated, hands-on restorer of distressed properties throughout the county.  He has successfully preserved and restored houses in Rhinebeck, Staatsburg, Red Hook, Clinton Corners, Stanford, Pine Plains and Millbrook.   The common thread of these two endeavors is Steve’s passion for “problem-solving”.  He is determined to find a realistic vision for any project and then pursue the “most efficient, cost effective way to get the job done.”

For CVPA, Steve is glad to cast his legal-eye to matters of corporate governance, contracts, finance, grant requirements and challenges related to partnering with NY State and others to restore the site and find an adaptive reuse and sustainable repurposing for The Point. His greatest pleasure is seeing progress on the restoration of the site, including the slate roof, the pedestrian  bridge, trails and clearing of scenic viewsheds.  Steve is always ready to get into the “weeds”, as on Save Your Parks Day, when volunteers join together to hack back the brush that perpetually threatens the natural beauty of the site.

Steve looks forward to continued progress on the restoration of this public treasure and hopes others will join the effort to save The Point.
